Lomei Township Primary School is located at an average altitude of 4,700 metres on the northern Tibetan plateau, more than 90 kilometres from the city of Xeni District, the natural environment is harsh, extreme temperatures in winter can reach -30 ℃. The school relies only on an old well built with aid from Hangzhou for water supply, but affected by the plateau climate, the well water dries up in the spring, turbid in the autumn, freezing in the winter, teachers and students are often faced with the plight of ‘no water available, water is difficult to drink’. Previously planned new wells, but due to complex geological conditions, near the dry toilet pollution risk factors forced to shelve. After testing, the existing well water heavy metals exceeded the standard, a direct threat to the health of teachers and students.

In response to the special needs of the local community, Zhejiang Tianhangjian Water Co., Ltd. gives full play to its professional advantages, tailor-made a set of water purification system with a treatment capacity of 250L/h. The core technology adopts the ceramic ultrafiltration + nanofiltration dual-membrane coupling process, which can accurately filter large molecule pollutants such as silt, bacteria and solve the problem of turbidity of the water quality, the nanofiltration membrane selectively retains the beneficial minerals, and efficiently intercepts the heavy metals. The whole process of aseptic water supply eliminates the risk of secondary pollution in the plateau environment and ensures the safety and health of drinking water. The system can produce 966 litres of drinking water per day, which fully meets the needs of all students and teachers, and automated control, low energy consumption, easy maintenance, and adapt to the extreme climatic conditions of the plateau.

The project can directly improve the health level of plateau children, reduce diseases caused by water quality problems, and help education equity; it also provides replicable technical templates for drinking water projects in high-cold and high-altitude areas, and promotes the application of ceramic membrane water purification in the frontier. The project is a continuation of the tradition of zhejiang aid Tibet, deepen the connotation of east-west collaboration. Ceramic membrane, as a ‘gift of the snowy plateau’, so that the people of the plateau in the future no longer have to worry about a glass of healthy water’.
