From November 19 to 21, 2025, the "Urban Water Supply System Sustainable Development Technology Seminar and 2025 Municipal Water Supply Membrane Technology Forum," jointly organized by the Water Industry Branch of the China Civil Engineering Society, Shanghai Municipal Engineering Design & Research Institute, Yiwu Water Construction Group, and other organizations, was successfully held in Yiwu, Zhejiang. Zhejiang Tianxingjian Water Co., Ltd., as a strategic partner of this conference, participated and introduced the application of Tianxingjian ceramic membrane technology in modern high-quality water treatment, showcasing the exemplary results of ceramic membrane technology in promoting the green transformation and healthy upgrading of the water supply industry.

Critical Period of Industry Transformation: From 'Chemical Treatment' to 'Physical Retention'



Zhang Yue, Chairman of the Water Industry Branch of the China Civil Engineering Society, pointed out at the opening ceremony that the water supply industry is currently facing a critical period of transformation and urgently needs to explore new directions. In the future, more attention should be paid to the concepts of 'learning from nature' and 'healthy water.' He emphasized minimizing chemical usage during water treatment processes, while strictly preventing and avoiding microbial risks. It is necessary to strengthen and improve physical interception processes and efficiency; focus on the development of membrane filtration technology; promote the research and application of non-chemical, fiber-free membrane materials such as ceramic membranes, while also developing non-chemical cleaning methods. Additionally, research on the relationship between drinking water and health should be deepened, promoting the development of the water supply industry towards the broader health industry.

On-site Observation: Witnessing the Large-Scale Implementation of China's First and Largest 100,000-Ton Ceramic Membrane Project



The most important on-site part of this meeting was organizing a visit for the delegates to the ceramic membrane expansion and reconstruction project of Yiwu Third Municipal Water Company. As the first municipal drinking water project in China to use ceramic membranes on a scale of 100,000 tons, this project won the 2025 GWI Global Water Award for 'Best Municipal Water Supply Project' and is regarded as a benchmark model in the industry. Its stable and efficient operation provided valuable practical reference for the attending experts.

During the site visit, the representatives went deep into the plant and witnessed firsthand the operational status of the Tianxingjian ceramic membrane system under real working conditions. The project leader gave a detailed introduction and demonstration of the physical retention process of the ceramic membrane modules, the efficient air-water backwash technology, and the operation of the chemical-free cleaning process. "Seeing such a large-scale water plant in person, able to produce such clear and high-quality tap water relying on an ultra-short process physical technology centered on ceramic membranes, and with the entire system being so compact and operated by such a streamlined team, gives us great confidence and a clear path for future upgrades and renovations of our water plants," a representative from a large water plant remarked after the visit.

The success of this renovation and expansion project not only validates the reliability of ceramic membrane technology in large-scale water treatment applications, but its features of 'modular construction, land-saving, and energy optimization' also provide a replicable model for upgrading and expanding old water plants while achieving low-carbon modernization.

Intelligent Empowerment: Upgrading Operations from 'Manufacturing' to 'Smart Manufacturing'

At present, Tianxingjian ceramic membrane technology, with its outstanding adaptability, stability, and cost-effectiveness, has successfully achieved comprehensive coverage and large-scale application in first- and second-stage municipal water treatment plants as well as civilian 'third-stage' water plants, marking that the technology now spans the entire lifecycle of the water treatment system from the 'source' to the 'tap'.

Ceramic membranes are not just a material innovation; they also represent an upgrade in water treatment models. We hope to drive the water supply industry from passive management to proactive health management through technological reconstruction, helping the industry expand into the broader health sector.
